Disclaimer: This was not taken in Birmingham. I snapped this (and dozens that I had to trash) sitting on the patio of my dear friends Judy and Dave Dunn in Brentwood, CA in 2011. Just rediscovered and thought I would share.
Wow, three at once! I miss these guys as I have never seen them in France. I had feeders in NC before we moved, but I don't remember having more than one at time.
My parents had a couple of these feeders that they kept through the summer, one hanging by the kitchen window. They were fun birds to watch.
One evening I looked out the window, and there hanging off a nearby beam was a raccoon. With one free paw he was tipping the feeder over so the water would leak down to the sidewalk where he could lick it up. He looked at me as if to say "Do you mind? I'm kind of busy here."
