It's time for a change of pace around here. Yesterday I scrolled down through my 3 zillion photos looking for inspiration and stopped right here. I love to photograph architectural details. Do you think I'll find any in Paris??? These lovely old twisted handles are at the entrance to Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. They are so sculptural yet sturdy and functional at the same time. You may remember that I first posted some photos of this church's wonderful renovation here and their Greek Food Festival here. The American people have spoken. That's as it should be. What I really didn't expect was the vast number of my readers from around the globe who have shown such positive support and interest for what is happening in my country. May President-elect Obama ignite hope for the future, possess the ability to heal our country, and above all, be instrumental in forging peace around our world. It is time.

It's important for yout country, but it's also important for the whole world. Someone finally speaks about peace again. Even if it will be difficult, the atmosphere has changed. We are so happy here in France! You'll see it in Paris in a very few days!
Let's hope (and I am sure) that Obama can change America for the best. It would automatically have a positive influence on the rest of the world!! We all need that!

Lovely door handles! I have a collection of door handle photos, too! And yes, it sure is a blessing Obama won; I pray he will bring about many positive changes for the US, and that he will stay safe. Last night there was a big gathering organized by the US Embassy flor Serbs, local Americans, diplomats, et al. at a local conference hall, and everybody there "voted." There were four times as many votes for Obama than McCain.
You will love the architectural details in Paris, Virginia. Just use your eye and think small.
America is an infuriating country: it is populated by reasonable people who seem to be constantly overwhelmed by nutters. Except for last night! Welcome to the era of reason. I am glad the elections are over. I am happy with the results, but it's hard to be too excited down here in red country. You wouldn't believe some of the things my co-workers have said. It really scares me sometimes the things people can think.

Your new president elect is very popular here too - he was one of our children. He spent his childhood and went to elementary school in Jakarta. Above all, however, we see him as an embodiment of hope and change in a world in facing a global crisis.

I have a whole Obama post. Today the world turned it's pre conceived idea of America and Americans on it's head. As for the door handles very apt.Bush couldn't even find a door and Obama has opened new ones. They are simply elegant, almost puritan with a cavalier twist.
