Saturday I attended the Chinese New Year Festival at Boutwell Auditorium. Actually I did double duty as I was also recruited to help man the Museum of Art's table as well. When there was a lull, I grabbed my camera and caught a few photographs. Today, enjoy these portraits. More for you tomorrow!

I love your new header photo, V.
These are very beautiful photos, V; the bamboo pathway and the red bridge are magnificent - I like them best (in addition to your header photo).
So adorable. Wonderful series of images
Very intriguing photo; I especially like the man doing calligraphy. I have a Chinese student who describes writing Chinese characters as 'dancing on paper.'
What an interesting event... I'd love to see someone writing chinese. And those lovely children, they are absolutely adorable in their outfits!
Reminds me of the other Birmingham, cosmopolitan place that is is. These are smashing portraits red and people two of your specialities. How is the French jaunt going?
Check out Notingham Daily for more Oriental images. You'll like.
Excellent portraits, V.! Cute little chinese kids! :-)
Exquisite portraits. Yes the photo of the man doing calligraphy is very special..well captured and how lucky you are to have a festival like this..
Nice, nice!! I went to (one of) our Paris Chinatown(s) this weekend and celebrated the new year with a nice dinner together with some Chinese friends (no photos).
Calligraphy: no place for mistakes, I have never seen an eraser around...
Beautiful portraits and new banner! And yes, le petit pont était rouge ET joli! ;-))
magnifique cette série de portraits, avec une préférence pour le dernier, le petit garçon.
Merci to my producer/manager Wayne who suggested the calligapher today. I pulled another photo and added it to keep him happy and apparently you all liked it as well! He was writing the word "happy" for me!
I don't usually run photos from one event back to back but think I will continue this series for a day or two.
Olivier and Alice - Merci, je comprede!
Oops, make that "je comprends"! Sigh
Re your comment at 'Roons place: I would like to see your take on the underbelly.
Beautiful portraits ,i love the second one :)
The new banner is so lovely, V. It's just delightful.
It looks like everyone was having a wonderful time, I'm glad you were there to take pictures for all of us.
Beautiful people pictures!
Wow, this is some of your best work, # 1 and 2 particularly. # 1 is my favorite - the light is very nice and the child engages the viewer so strongly. I think she is slightly cross-eyed, which somehow makes the picture more personal.
Virginia, I just can't decide what I like more -- your faces or your architectural shots.
These are just wonderful.
OK, my favorite was the precious little girl with her parasol. I am glad you all found your personal favorites. I learn so much from your comments. BTW, I had Chinese food for lunch today. I was craving it after Saturday!
V
You really capture their personalities
