Reservations for Two- Table/Chair Series

If you read the NY Times article  36 Hours in Birmingham,  you know about Little Savannah.  I featured this lovely neighborhood restaurant here.  Today, we go back for dinner.  I love the starched white tablecloths and the velvet curtains that they bring out for the dinner crowd.  If you ask me for a recommendation from the menu, I'll have to say everything is delicious. Chef Cliff  Holt and and his wife Maureen do an excellent job here.   If you come to Birmingham, you must stop in and have dinner with them!

* Thanks to Marie-Noyale (Larchmont DP) and Bob Crowe ( St. Louis DP) for forwarding me the link to the NY Times article!

I would settle for some coffee and maybe some dessert just to sit and enjoy the atmosphere!

This is surely a place I'd love to visit! I wonder what type of food they serve.

Let me anywhere near a starched white tablecloth and I'll either spill tomato sauce or blueberry coulis on it. And they don't even have to be on the menu.

I read the article, many words about food and barbecue! Another nice place today that we already knew from inside thanks to your other post. Velvet curtains outside? What a refinement! A great sunday to you.

The Highlands Bar and Grill is next door to Chezfonfon?
I did a 36 Hours search for Pensacola. It was nteresting, but a little dated and a bit of misinformation. I may do the series just for fun.
I like park benches, hadn't thought of tables and chairs. Very nice, Miss Virginia. I like all the implications.

36 hours in Altadena? If it meant dining, you better like Amy's because there is no other place. Then maybe a trip to Chevron station.

Looks like an exquisite setting for delicious food.

My favorite reads of the week - after the Sunday Styles section of the NYT - are the Friday and Sunday travel sections .. and the 36 Hour series tops that list ...

Oh, so now you want me to buy you dinner! We need to find an excuse for visiting Birmingham. There's no direct air service so hmmm… I see your opera company is doing Marriage of Figaro in March, 2010, but that’s a long way off. This restaurant looks elegant but genteel at the same time. Maybe we just need to arrange a munchie tour of Alabama.

Bob,
The welcom mats out! I'm welcoming 3 bloggers this very week! Oh yes, we can eat and drink our way all over B'ham. Come on!

AH, you gotta love a good Chevron Station. Do they have pickled eggs at yours??

For those of you that are wanting to know what they serve, click on their link and be prepared to get mighty hungry. I recommend the Provençal Violette Sparkler!

PJ,
Yes Highland's is next door to Chez Fonfon, both run by Chef Frank Stitt. We won't be dining there this week unless we can get BobCrowe to join us and whip out HIS credit card!

Oh gosh...you just HAD to mention the Provençal Violette Sparkler! I remember it fondly on that November evening when we "did up the town" in BHM. Virginia you're a 5-star tour guide!!!

Reminds me of France. This is one of things my husband misses from his county - the outside cafes. Wish we could join you!

I think this is my favorite of your table and chair series - and that's really saying something. I love the earth tones, with the black geometric chairs and the stark white table-cloths. Really beautiful, V.
