A Night in Oz fundraiser for the
Birmingham Children's Theater. I have a little bonus entry at the bottom. A still life I took in my kitchen during my first photography class in January, 2008.

The lovely brick road shot is a natural for the theme today, Virginia. The stilllife, a real beauty, especially with the sliced lemon. All beautifully done! Happy Theme Day!

Wonderful choice for yellow day! The girls look great and I'm sure they had a fun time doing Wizard of Oz. Now I'm having flashbacks of playing the lead monkey in our 6th grade production of that classic.

Your still life is just wonderful too. It reminds me of one of my favorite paintings by de Zurbaran - Still Life with Lemons, Oranges and a Rose (http://www.nortonsimon.org/collections/browse_title.php?id=F.1972.06.P) from the Norton Simon Museum in (of all places) Pasadena. You'll have to come out and visit soon.

Oh, I get it, but since when did Dorothy hold hands with the Wicked Witch? What if it started to rain and the witch melted? My wife is from Kansas and she has a sister named Dorothy who still lives there, so I am knowledgeable in these matters. But anyway, this is a creative idea and well shot. The lighting is just right.
Pretty darn nice light and modeling on those lemons, too.

Today Birmingham, tomorrow Broadway! I love Dorothy's expression. Wouldn't Pat's lovely Bibi be perfect in the role of Toto, if the girls preferred a live actor in the part, that is? I'm just envisioning Katie as one of the flying monkeys (creatures of my childhood nightmares, so Katie must have been cast against type--she's more a tall, willowy goddess type in real life :-) ).
I love the lemons in blackness. How did you do that?

At the risk of blowing the "mystic" the lemons were on a black plate on my dark kitchen counter! I was just learning manual mode in my photography class so it was probably an exposure goof that paid off!
