The Wisteria is in Bloom!

If you haven't experienced springtime in Birmingham, bless your heart!   For the next week or so I hope to give you all a glimpse of just how absolutely, spectacular this season can be.  Today, wisteria in bloom .   A lot of folks around here will tell you that wisteria can be a bit unruly ( invasive ). Well yes it can!  We try to overlook that this time of year,  when it's hanging from trees and telephone wires,  as gorgeous as can be.  I' m sharing several photos today because the blooms won't last long!

I had to gasp at the rich color, V. Can't wait to see Birmingham's spring abundance. I so miss the wisteria that (talk about unruly) covered the balcony and 1/2 the steeply pitched roof of my next door neighbor's house. My kitchen windows looked right out onto it and every year I would look forward to its bloom.

I have a song for you. It is called Wisteria, and it is by Richard Shindel (a performing songwriter I've heard live a couple times and really love) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97dOq9ybnQ8
Your post today is a real treat for me.

I adore wisteria, and it reminds me of southern France for some reason. I like any flower that is lavender or purple.

Follow the Yellowbrick road to Witeria Lane. You are having a laff aren't you? I will tiptoe through the tulips with your, amongst the golden daffodils of my adopted Brum. Wisteria is a beauty we seldom see here. Superb larger images today.

Well, children can be unruly, yes? It is all in the training, yes?

Wisteria is absolutely gorgeous: the colour, the shape, the hanging.

You know of course, as you luxuriate in Spring we slide into Autumn. Now I have nothing agin Autumn, 'tis my favourite season. It is just what it harbings ... is that a word? I'm sure you know what I mean.

Wisteria is one vine that is easy to love no matter how high it climbs in through the trees.

Ahhhhh ... at first I thought, She's nutz those are delphinium .. but upon closer perusal I have to admit they are indeed wisteria ... lovely.

Oh, wonderful grapes and color! And your light is so special (I'm rambling, am I not?). I have not seen any of them in bloom here, so I think Alabama has an early spring? I made my "purple series" too, last year or even the year before, I don't remember (if you are interested in).

I so L-O-O-V-E Wisteria! I wish I had a garden enclosed by a round stone wall and I wish a big beautiful wisteria would cover (invade) it!

Moses would enjoy that shade of purple!

And I thought wisteria was one of those things in William Faulkner novels that nobody really understood. Beautiful floral shot but I might be horticulturally handicapped by a childhood spent surrounded by concrete.

Bob,
Most things nobody really understands come from the South! This ain't no asphalt jungle.

PS If you're flying business class to Paris, I don't want to see one single photo of you and C. laid up in those fancy leather recliners!!! Comprenez vous???

Great abundance of blooming in Birmingham. I love the clothed in purple Wisteria vine. In Marburg we must take time for the spring blooming.
