Quiet night at the Shades Valley
Optimist Club's Christmas Tree lot. These nice folks have been selling trees at Shades Cahaba Elementary on Oxmoor Road for as long as I can remember. They do good work in the community. Please give them your business.

In Phoenix a decade or so ago there was a sadness when the site of a large Christmas tree lot that had been there for as long as people could remember became the site of two office buildings.
If the trees are cheap, full and fresh I'll give them a look.

They don't look too busy. What a fun photo. And what a funny name: Shades Cahaba. Must mean something locally?
Lowell, Shades Cahaba is the elementary school that my girls and I attended and I taught there for 19 years. It's located in Shades Valley and the Cahaba River is not far away. :)
This is a great scene. Really nostalgic. I can imagine them sharing pleasant stories as they wait for customers.

This picture gives a very homey feeling. I am hoping they will sell everything they have.
I am a strong believer in supporting local businesses and glad always to see small businesses doing well.
We used to buy our trees from the Boy Scouts in Vestavia Hills, and our sons (and hubby and I!) sold them from that lot all the years they were in Scouts - nine years!
I do remember the lot at Shades Cahaba. And, another answer to Lowell, if he sees it, Shades Valley was named for Shades Mountain, which got its name from the many little pockets of mist that can be seen from the valley. They look like ghosts, or "shades".
Looks a lot like our Christmas tree lot (we actually have one!) except that they're bundled up more as the temps been hovering around freezing and below...but no snow!!!
