A few weeks ago I attended the Pancake Breakfast to benefit
First Light Women's Shelter. It was held downtown at
First Presbyterian Church, and rightly so, First Pres (as it is affectionately known) founded this wonderful shelter for women and children. My church actively supports FIrst Light so I have had the privilege of serving dinner there on a number of occasions. The Pancake Breakfast is an annual event and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast and later Re. Shannon Webster was kind enough to show me around the Sanctuary and allow me to take a few photographs.

Just started following today. Found you on @wilsonsway 's BhamsRSS.com page.
This photo is beautiful. It makes me think of an MC Escher piece.
Looking forward to your posts.

An interesting concatenation of architectural elements.
The church and you are doing good work.
And you picked out this wonderful profiled plaster and the total makes a beautiful composition in black and white. Its from the time that craftsmanship still counted but somebody called himself just an labourworker and not an artist. I am wondering how you see yourself as a photographer. As an artist or as a doing just labour. Very nice work Virginia.
a beautiful monochrome, v!
Mike, thank you for following my blog. I hope you will stop by often!
Dina, yes this church is doing such a wonderful service to homeless women and children in our city.
S.c., I didn't know the term proiled plaster. Thanks for that. Absolutely whoever built this church was an artisan! As for me, funny you mention it. I'm in an online group of photographers and we've talked about how we hesitate to call ourselves photographers or professionals sometimes. I'm reading a new book by Mike Freeman about art and photography right now!
Thank you Shell and BC.
How beautiful! You always capture the light so perfectly. It makes for a very powerful photo here.

Pure and beautiful as for the idea of the shelter.
The way our posts sit next to each other on the portal today has a nice rhythm. (It will all vanish at a minute after midnight.) Your picture has a beautiful mix of curve and line, light and dark, and a great feeling of space. The viewer, maybe like the parishioners, is drawn to that light.
This is really beautiful, Virginia.
This is a WONDERFUL shot V!!! The light is perfect and the lines of architectural interest draw me in!!! Fabulous!!!
And fabulous work too!!!
