Play It Again, Sam
Renaissance Records on 11th Avenue South in the 5 Points area, is a quaint little shop that specializes in records, tapes, posters and old and rare books. It's the kind of place you can poke around in for hours and still not see everything. The red walls and low lights make it very inviting. If I only had my old turntable.....

Shadows from the Past
Historic Rickwood Field is the oldest ballpark in the U.S. The Friends of Rickwood Field have done a good job preserving this Birmingham landmark. Today it is used for high school and some college games and the Birmingham Barons play the Rickwood Classic here each year. I love the way the afternoon sun cast shadows across the walls and floor through the front entrance gate.

Gates
My favorite gates in Birmingham! These are found at The Garage on Birmingham's southside. I have photographed these particular gates a hundred different ways. I love the symmetry, the timeless design, the rust - well actually everything about them. Interestingly, these gates are probably the only orderly thing about this place. It is a delightful jumble of old iron pieces, statuary, planters etc. If you have patience, you might find a treasure.
