Homegrown in Alabama I - Fill Your Basket
Today we're starting a little mini series featuring Alabama farmers' markets and produce. Today, grab a peach basket and let's start our stroll around the Pepper Place Market. The Market at the Pepper Place began in 2000 as only a summer market but has grown to become almost year around. It's the happening place on Saturdays from 7-12. There are of course fresh produce but now it's expanded to hand crafted goods, music, chef demonstrations as well as baked goods and so much more.

Birmingham Rouge - Dr. Pepper!
I thought I'd continue the Birmingham Rouge theme as I'm doing the same on my Paris Through My Lens blog this week. Today, we return to Blackjack Stables and Farms. LOVE this old Dr. Pepper drink cooler. Fun Fact: Dr. Pepper originated in 1885 in Plano, Texas but Birmingham also had a Dr. Pepper Syrup Co. Every Saturday, the Pepper Place Market is held in the parking lots around that historic building.

Mushrooms on a Log
These beauties were spotted at the Pepper Place Market a few weeks ago. I'm heading to Grandview Farms in Montevallo very soon to see all of their offerings.

Chilling Out at the PPM
I'm assuming this cute pup shared this double stroller with the tiny human in the family.
For my readers in the Birmingham area, I will again be teaching my 5 week photography classes at Vestavia United Methodist Church's Conservatory of the Arts beginning Monday, September 12. These classes are designed for the amateur photographer who wants to improve their photos. Come join us!

Music To My Ears
It's no secret that I love getting down to the Pepper Place Market on Saturday mornings. I love the bustle of the crowds, seeing farmers, bakers, artists and artisans who I know from year to year, getting bags full of fresh Alabama veggies, and hearing the music of the local musicians. I caught this guy as I was heading to my car. I apologize for not getting the name of his group.

Popsicle Series I - Mmmmmmm
When I decided to move my blog from Birmingham Alabama Daily Photo to Birmingham Through My Lens, it was to give myself some creative space to share photos with you when and if I felt I had something of interest. I always wanted to be able to do a little series now and again. Well it's summer in Birmingham and hot as hades. I've found some really cute kiddos cooling themselves off with icy treats and will share for a few days. I hope you enjoy!
Today, we visit the Pepper Place Market. There are several popsicle vendors there every Saturday and they do a booming business!
