Kate

Meet Kate Merritt Davis. She might look familiar because I featured her here as one of my 100 Strangers a while back.   I met her at Art Walk last fall and she and I have kept in touch.  Today, I visited Kate at her home/studio and not only had a nice cup of tea with her but got to snoop around and have a look at her work in progress.  I asked Kate how long she'd been painting and she laughed and said she'd been making art forever.  What a talented young artist she is.  How fortunate I am that this "stranger" has become a new friend!!  I'm saving my pennies.  There's an original Kate Merritt Davis in my future I hope!

*Kate's work is available on Etsy right here.

Our special thoughts and prayers are with our friend Steve Buser on he loss of his brother Ted this past week.

Oh V, another perfect portrait. You always make me feel like I'm looking at the REAL person, not just a pose. Lovely. And the second shot is wonderful, too.

Saving pennies and having cups of tea. Am I in the UK Birmingham? Forever making art. I think that really does sum up how I consider what I do. Just always taken photographs just progressed to "for a living." Lovely natural capture and colour right in this instance.

I adore those paintings!! Are they for sale??? The abstractness in combination with that RED really is my cup o' tea. :~)

Howdy from Texas.

Kim's work is available on Etsy. Her website has a link but maybe I should it up as well. Judy, yes you need one!

J'aime bien ses lunettes au moins ! J'espère que tu nous montreras ton œuvre quand tu l'achètes.

Very nice portrait. You used the window light to good effect. It's interesting composition, since the window is sort of behind her.

Off for the airport in a sec. No photo shoot with the kid tonight - it's just dinner, a night at an O'Hare hotel and then on again tomorrow morning.

It is a delight to find your wonderful blog, Virginia! I'm already hooked in just a brief visit and look forward to exploring more of your site, including your 100 strangers.
Very nice portrait today. I too like this young artist's work and style.
Thanks for your comment today and I'm glad it brought good memories.

Yes, our thoughts and prayers are with Steve Buser and his family.
