Crown of Thorns

Today, Christians around the world celebrate Good Friday. This lovely statue was photographed at The Garage.

The shadows on this sculpture fit the mood of today perfectly Virginia.

Excellent choice, Virginia. It really captures Christ's pain. We tend to sanitize just how cruel His death was. The flogging alone brought him just to the point of death. The reason they stopped at 39 lashes was because the 40th usually brought on death by a massive heart attack and the victim would look like a piece of raw hamburger, virtually every piece of skin ripped from the body. Too graphic, perhaps, for a blog post - but this is what the Romans did to Christ before nailing him to the cross.

KM,
I happen to know that you know Him! This piece was in the junky, quirky Garage. A little worse for wear I still like it and the shadows. Happy Easter my friend.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments and good wishes.

This is quite moving. Reminds me of when I was a kid and we used to sing O Sacred Head Surrounded at this time of year. This could be interesting in B&W, too.

Very good choice of sepia for this photo and theme.
