Legends

Thursday afternoon 75 Historic Legends of Motorsports Road Race cars came roaring into Mountain Brook Village. It was a terrific afternoon. Area merchants offered food, drinks and had some very nice giveaways. A DJ kept the place hopping and everyone strolled the village, chatted with friends and neighbors and waited for the big moment when the cars arrived . They parked right there so we could have an up close look! They are in town for races at the fabulous Barber Motorsports Park this weekend. Area readers need to get out there and see it! I am not a car buff but I was impressed. Today a sampling. Of course there are more for another day or two!

Now that's pretty cool. You got the panning just right. The old codger (I assume he is older than me, if not by much) sure is having a good time.

OK, that's it. I can't let you all think I was some photographic wizard on the top shot. The truth is I think I had it on Sports Mode and took a bunch of shots, most of which were pitiful. This one was dumb luck. Confession is good for the soul! :)

Une folle envie de monter en voiture ce soir... et de se laisser conduire.

No dumb luck. . .much harder to pan sucessfully in sports mode because it wants to completely stop the action with the fast shutter speed. . . Those modes are really handy when you are trying to work quickly and can nab a shot that might otherwise get by. Last winter I stood on a street in Chinatown in Victoria, BC and practiced panning in low light for nearly an hour. . . I'd forgotten those shots and will have to revisit them to see what I got :-).

Your garden header reminded me to tell you we checked a children's picture book out of the library this week called "La La Rose," the adventures of a favored bunny toy that is lost in Luxembourg Garden by a young girl visiting with her grandmother. I thought you might like to look it up on line and see if one of your dear ones might enjoy it. It's sweet, and you'd recognize every inch of terrain. :-)

Wonderful old cars and portraits of owners. Love the two boys looking in and lusting over it.
