For quite some time I've been featuring a
Sunday Church Series on my Paris blog. I have posted photographs from Paris cathedrals as well as the lovely churches I have visited in the countryside of France. I've had the privilege of taking many photographs of my own church, Independent Presbyterian, as well as many other churches and synagogues here in Birmingham. I'd like to start this series today with gate detail on the stairway to the balcony of
Independent Presbyterian Church on Highland Avenue.

Lovely railings and shadows and again another beautiful header.
Nice shadows and composition. I'll look forward to seeing more of this series.
Love this ironwork shot. Shadows and colors work.
I love your Sunday Church series on the Paris blog, and I'm excited that you're going to start the same for B'ham!!!
A wonderful church building detail - perfect for Sacred Sunday!
Well, Presbyterians are supposed to be independent, aren't they? Poo on this papist clap-trap. I went to Jesuit schools so I know all about that.
I'm thinking along the lines of what Chieftess said. (I've been following her around the blogosphere today, repeating her). Your Sunday church series on PTML is wonderful. Now, V, are you going to start visiting all the churches in B'Ham? That's a project.
Great idea for a series! I look forward to seeing them.
Is that the Jeff. Co. Courthouse on your header?
FH,
Thanks. I have a lot in my archives but hope to visit to visit more churches in the area for the series.
No, this is a former bank right there on 20th Street that is sadly vacant and in some disrepair, but I love it!
BC,
You're right, that's why my church was founded and given that name.
Thanks everyone! More to come.
V
Looking forward to this series.
I'm looking forward to the series. I love going into all the great old churches around town. St. Mary's is one of my favorites.
Love it .. BIG time
Beuatiful shot. Gets my vote, Virginia - love the subtle shadows.
