I agree about the ghost sign, Virginia. And I well remember how happy air conditioning made me when I lived back home in Jackson, Mississippi. Now, I am happy to have it at work, mainly because the windows don't open. I've not lived with air conditioning in any of the three apartments I've lived in since June, 2006. And I haven't really missed it, either! Every once in a while, we get in the 100s here, so I keep the fans running and make it very well.
Why are we always attracted to the decline. Perhaps because it is a warning for our future or is it just something else. I don't know but it delivers always beautiful pictures as is the case with this one.
Ghost sign or no ghost sign it's a super photo. Just what a love - decay, rust, old bricks. Rotten old aircondition. Perfect material for an interesting photo.
There's all that color on the brick. As mysterious as Toynbee Tiles. Was the brick completely plastered over but it's now peeling off?
I gotta look through that set of pix you sent me a link to. Also gotta stop 11 - 12 hour work days. If I knew how to insert a frowny face here I would.
I believe you are right about the sign. But, I love photos like this that show the age and character of a building.
I want to thank you for the visit to my barn post a month ago. When I was seeking the location of that picturesque barn. Sorry, I am so slow returning your visit but I have been in hospital.
Now that I have found you I will try to pop in asap. I spend a lot of time in parts of Alabama and never get to see the rest of the state. Love seeing what I miss by way of blogs like yours.

Yes sometimes they even try to recover these signs nowadays...
Looks like the world has lost Europe. (Scary thought I know)
la crise frappe encore
Stunning colors - this is right up my alley (no pun intended)!

Wonderful shot! I wonder what the sign was for?
I'm drawn to these pastels.
