A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking some Cincinnati friends around Birmingham. Mary Gilbert, a docent at
Spring Grove Cemetery and
Phil Nuxhall, Spring Grove's historian couldn't wait to get to
Oak Hill Cemetery and meet director Stuart Oates. Well, I followed them around for a while then I just wandered off and shot photos while they had a grand ole time. This is what they looked like for most of the morning!
Today I join Taphophile Tragics right here!

You joined??? Look at you - you little cemetery nut...
Both title and photo are so perfect for the meme.
When I die, don't put me in one of those filing cabinets with the rest of the ashes.I want a lovely and sizable headstone -- something in the order of this one.
On dit généralement que "la curiosité est un vilain défaut" mais ici la curiosité est une qualité.
OH Hiker, I want my ashes strewn all over my favorite places in Paris, not in a filing cabinet either!

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...I don't want to be all pumped up with chemicals to slow the decay process!!! As for memorial stone? Sure...why not?!!!
Best way to spend a morning in my opinion!

I agree with Nicola. I can't wait for our local cemetery tours to start up - this week, in fact!
it is so much fun wandering with those two
haha, i had to laugh about your text combined with the photo.. :)
It might have seemed like most of the morning to you, VJ, but to them it probably flew by as does 5 minutes. Taphophilia is a most engrossing pursuit. Especially if one has a camera AND a blog.
Thanks for participating again. I appreciate it. I wonder if Mary, or Stuart, or Phil would like to contribute once in a wee while??
