Memories

I was shuffling around in my archives the other day and found this photo.  It brings back bittersweet memories in several ways.  I was meeting my friend Sara for coffee to help her plan a trip to Paris.  She had a marvelous trip with her husband and daughter not long after.  We lost her last  year and we all miss her a lot.  That morning we met at Forest Perk Coffee in my neighborhood.  They've closed recently.  I'm grateful for this photograph, that brings back the memories of that special day.

I Don't Know Beans......

about coffee.  I don't speak "Starbucks" so when I visit my favorite neighborhood coffee shop, Forest Perk, I just say I want a medium coffee and they figure out the rest.  It's always good...a whole lot better than what I make at home.

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee!

Here in my Forest Park neighborhood,  we are thrilled to welcome new businesses.  Today we visit my favorite coffee shop........Forest Perk.  Actually we  have been here  before, but I wanted to do a formal introduction today.  It's independently owned, (not one of those uppity, mega coffee places), for which I'm grateful.  Owner Caleb Kinsaul and his friendly staff are just who you need to see when you stagger in for your first cup of the day or meet a friend and linger over several cups and some of their tasty scones and mufffins.  Friendly neighborhood coffee shop... glad they're here!

Blog Friends - Making Plans

Forgive me for yet another personal post today. As I have stated many times, through this blog I've met met so many wonderful friends, here and across the globe. Today another example. Through another reader, Sara and I connected. . Last fall, we met face to face at the Day of the Dead Festival. We recognized each other immediately ( from Facebook), and she told me she and her husband read my blogs often. We chatted a bit, and she told me she and her family were going to Paris soon. Imagine my delight when she emailed me last week and asked if we could meet and talk about their upcoming trip to Paris.... next week! Small world, we'll be there at the same time! Today we met at Forest Perk on Clairmont. I gave her my condensed version of how to survive in Paris with limited français, the places I visit over and over, and most of all, why Paris j'adore! Well it wasn't all that condensed.

Sara et famille... bon voyage!
