The Greek Festival - Let The Dancing Continue

Last Friday's post was just the beginning.  I have so many photos from The Greek Festival, held at Holy Trinity- Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral,  that I decided to make this collage, so I could share more than one.  And there are more you know!

A Weekend in Greece.... Let the Dancing Begin

Birmingham has such a strong Greek population, and we love nothing better to join them for their annual Greek Festival. This is the 39th year for this celebration that all of Birmingham looks forward to each year. The Holy Trinity Holy Cross Cathedral is the place you need to be this weekend.  The delicious food is a must and you can drive through and pick it up , but you really need to park and come in to savor the authentic music and dancing.  I joined my dear Greek friends yesterday in order to photograph their grandchildren. I will admit to sipping some nice Greek white wine and bringing  home a large sack of goodies. I 'm thinking I might need one more run down there before the festivities end on Saturday night.

Greece is the Word!

Today's photos are hot off the press from Holy Trinity- Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral's Greek Food Festival. We are fortunate to have a large Greek community in Birmingham and oh my can they cook! The Greek chicken and rice was the absolute best I have ever eaten. The ladies and gentlemen of the church cook for weeks and not only serve a wide selection of delicious hot items, but they offer frozen dishes to take home for later. To top it off you get to hear some lively music and watch children of all ages perform their traditional Greek dances. I promise some photos of them very soon. All in all it's a great weekend in Birmingham when the Greeks throw the best festival in town.

The Tune du Jour is of course, "Zorba the Greek"!
