Lazy Summer Day

Shades Creek winds through the Jemison walking trail in Mountain Brook. A shady spot to stop on these hot days.

This weekend I join James' Weekend Reflections right here!

Bragging Rights

Admittedly I took this about a week ago ( picture more leaves on the ground), but our weather here in Birmingham has been pretty great considering it's the middle of November.  Aside for a few chilly days, we are still enjoying some fine fall weather in shirt sleeves/sweaters and for some....running shorts. Another reason I love where I live!

Autumn Show Stopper...

or maybe a walk or run stopper.  This tree along the Jemison Trail in Mt. Brook stops me every autumn.  While it has the appearance of an evergreen, at this time of year there's not a green needle to be had.  Maybe some of my expert readers can enlighten us.  For now, enjoy the color.

One Lab + One Big Stick + Water =  One Happy Pup!

Now for my faithful readers that ventured a guess yesterday, look below to see the answer to yesteday's
Mystery Object. I enjoyed your guesses.  Janet, you nailed it!

Well I'll Be Dammed!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  This was taken from the stone bridge on Shades Creek Parkway in Mt. Brook recently.  Sometimes I take my camera along on my walk. I don't know much about beavers etc. so I'm just guessing they built it. Surely there's a dam expert out there!

Men At Work

I passed these work boots perched on a stone wall overlooking Shades Creek this week during my walk on the beautiful Jemison Trail in Mountain Brook.  Some of the workers had to shed their shoes in favor of big black rubber boots so they could get down and dirty as they work to control flooding issues along the creek.  I am pretty sure they thought the lady photographing their shoes was a nutcase.  BINGO!

The yellow scooper thingy is purely for Wayne's amusement.  That's two "industrials" this week W.  This ought to hold you for a while.  Kittens coming soon!

Blog Action Day 2010 - Water

Today bloggers around the world focus on WATER, as part of Blog Action Day.  This year we focus on the lifeblood of our planet.  We only have this one supply of water you know.  How are we conserving this precious resource?

My photographs were taken on my walk this week on the Jemison Trail in Mountain Brook.  Bravo to the Key Club at Mt. Brook High School for their efforts to keep this waterway clean for all of us to enjoy.  For more information about preserving Alabama's waterways, check out the Cahaba River Society's great site.

Autumn With a Twist

Yesterday I lugged my camera along on my walk through Jemison Park in Mountain Brook.  This is a photo that wasn't worth much,  but then I gave it a titch of razzle dazzle. I rather liked it then, I hope you do as well.

The Robert Jemison Trail

* My friend Jean Reed is sitting in as my guest blogger this week while I'm in France. She introduced me to the Robert Jemison Trail and we have logged a lot of miles together here.

The Robert Jemison Trail is enjoyed by hundreds of walkers and runners on a daily basis. It is such a beautiful spot that one can get lost in the beauty of the babbling brook and the surrounding natural landscape and forget the pain of exercise and heart rate! It is great for one’s mental outlook and attitude to reap the multisensory advantages of spending time in the natural world! Once its summer, just don’t forget to watch out for snakes!!!!
