Sunday Church Series - Welcoming

Yesterday, I marched in the Women's March here in Birmingham. As we made the last lap back to Kelly Ingram Park, I spotted this wonderful sign beside one of Birmingham's oldest churches, First United Methodist Church.

Here's the church, here's the steeple...

Last night I had the pleasure of presenting my phototalk on Sacred Spaces of Birmingham, at First Presbyterian Church. We Presbyterians call it , "First Pres".  Many thanks to  Associate Pastor, Reverend Cat Goodrich for inviting me, and to the members who gave me a warm welcome. This church, in the heart of our downtown district, is a loving and welcoming community that continues to serve and make a difference in our city.

Sunday Church Series - First Church

First United Methodist Church in downtown Birmingham was founded in 1872 and draws members from all over Jefferson County. To quote their website: " At First Church, our wonderful history is combined with a dynamic vision to create an engaging authentic experience of worship, discipleship and service."

Sunday Church Series - First Pres

Birmingham's First Presbyterian Church , since 1872, has been a welcoming place of worship in downtown Birmingham. I am honored to be exhibiting some of my work in their art gallery, the month of July.
