It has rained buckets for what seems like weeks around here. Monday, I got really desperate. Then I had a brainstorm .......mushrooms or toadstools....whatever! I cruised my neighborhood until I found some nice specimens. It didn't take long believe me. They are everywhere and in every imaginable shape and color. I made a quick turn around, jumped out of the car (in the rain), and popped off a few quick shots. Having a daily photo blog one has to be very creative, especially in inclimate weather.

The last mushrooms I saw came from the supermarket here...it's been very dry...

Ever done that exercise where you remove the stem, place the mushroom on a piece of blotting paper, wait 24 hours and marvel at the pattern of spores on the bp ... aint nature wonderful!

I'm still pondering the BW challenge. Snapper's made a good case for it. I think I will start and try for a month. If I can do it and keep a photo on this blog each day, then it may work. I haven't thought about another blog just for the project. Yikes. I think I'll have ato make it work here. We'll see. Could you send the link for the blog you mentioned? Merci
As far ast the edible mushroom question, I have no idea. I do have a mushroom expert I met in France this summer. I am going to send both pics to Serge and get his opinon! All I know is that if it's growing in your yard, you probably shouldn't be tasting them!!!

These all look familiar, V. With all the rain we've had, the same or similar mushrooms have popped up just about everywhere.
Shoot 'em but don't eat 'em.
You've ruined the vision I had of you lying in the wet grass taking photos!
Anyway.
Why is it good to take a mushroom to a party?
Because they are fungi to be with!

We have mushrooms on our lawn regularly during the damper seasons of the year...and I have to say, I never thought about getting down and taking pics...WOW!!! Love these!!!
