I posted a "ghost sign" last week
here and I so enjoyed the comments from those of you that like to find them in your cities and from those that, like me, just learned the term. Here's another one from downtown Birmingham, 2nd Avenue if memory serves ( which it doesn't so much any more).

These signs are great!
Ghost signs are such a terrific, its sort of an architectural dig into the neighborhood's retail past
I love this. Perhaps you are inspiring someone to do a compendium of ghost signs.
This one is particularly good. But what on earth is a bottler's uniform. Or actually, what on earth is a bottler?
I love all ghost signs but this is especially good, the brick coming through the man's uniform is my favorite part.
Another good one!
Ghost signs. I like the name. And the image.
Great sign...and very well preserved.
I remember that sign! This is what I love about your blog (not the uniform shop sign per se, but spotting things I've seen and forgotten!
This one's on Third Avenue, right across 22nd Street from St Paul's Cathedral.
I really enjoy ghost signs. Your posting is a real classic.
So love old signs like this. So sad when they disappear.
Lawyers?
Thanks for sharing, I will bookmark and be back again
