I like to take photos of candles in churches and cathedrals. It causes reflection for the reasons for the candles. I think of two reasons in particular.

My father passed away while I was in the air flying to Europe for a trip with my wife and son. We were conflicted about the trip and, with the urging of my brother, continued with the trip. We lit candles for him in cathedrals on our trip.

We made all of the arrangements for a trip to Italy for 16 family and friends about 6 years ago. On the day we were to have a party at a friend's house to plan a second trip, our friend became ill. He developed a very rare brain disease and went from being full of life to being gone in a month. His wife has MS and could not join the group on our second group trip, but we lit candles for him.

Very serene.

I was in a deconsecrated church last night, now an Irish cultural center. The religious decor is still in place, and I managed to get in pics.

Simply beautiful. I've shot candles in Notre Dame and Buddhist monasteries and they are all as moving.
