CREATE!!!
One of my favorite jobs is getting into the Vestavia schools for photos. I always beg for the Art Room. On a recent visit at Vestavia Hills Elementary West , I found some serious painters.

Amazing Evening
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Christopher Confessore, along with choirs from Red Mtn. Theatre's Youth Chorus, UAB, Samford and the ASO Chorus and the three featured soloists, brought the packed audience to their feet Friday and Saturday night with their magnificent performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana!

Fitting Tribute
Alabamian Tinsley R. Harrison (1900-1978) was one of the most influential physicians of the twentieth century. His worldwide fame rested primarily on his book Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine, published in 1950 and reprinted 16 times and translated into 14 different languages. It remains the single-most-used and best-selling internal medicine text in the world. Harrison was the first chair of medicine and second dean at the Medical College of Alabama, now part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Fun Dining
You can have your prissy white table cloth restaurants, I'm making a reservation at Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights' lunchroom. Pull up a colorful stool and dine with cute friends surrounded by the likes of Beethoven, Einstein and the Mona Lisa. There are more colorful characters vividly painted from children's books that I will share another day.

CDP Theme Day- Self Portrait
Ahhh the first day of the month and my City Daily Photoblog friends around the world are frantically digging around for a self portrait for this month's theme. I was about to bow out when I found this one from a recent photo shoot at the Henhouse Antiques where I love doing part-time work. We were photographing the wonderful pieces for a new online site last week, so here's my self portrait for today. I'm pleased to be framed by this gorgeous antique pediment mirror.
