Today some photos of the Robert S. Vance Federal Building in downtown Birmingham. Judge Vance was assassinated on December 16, 1989 when he opened a package containing a mail bomb at his home. This building was renamed in his honor in 1990.
My thanks to my friend Bill Dixon who offered some Shutter Speed 101 help with the top photo.

Now that's some shape for a silhouette. Great shot!
- Pixellicious Photos
Wunderful shutter photo. BnW in a colour pic - who knew!
2 photos a day - at least as much for when you turn your lens to food.
It's a lovely silhouette...a bit exotic and reminds me of minarets.
Curious about the grudge that led to the bomb. Culprit ever caught?
The backlighting works great for this photo.
Warped and dangerous minds...sad.
Kate,
Yes, Walter Leroy Moody was convicted and has been on death row since 1997 in Holman Prison.
And his killer lives on in relative comfort in a state prision
Lovely silhouette .. and the pumpkins and gourds in the header are delightful .. especially on this cold and wet day
Excellent silhouette, V. Congrats on the award, too! Very deserved!
Very nice silhouette photo.
stately and sad
Yes, it could almost be a minaret. It might improve some people's respect if you had to remove your shoes before entering U.S. District Court.
great first photo and I loved the pyramide photos. And, the washing of the Botero is a classic. good eye. i also really loved the shadows on the church. I enjoyed my visit to your site!
