Endangered Species

Meet Kittykins, my grandcat.  Santa brought her to my granddaughter Eva for Christmas.  Some of you have met Kittykins here.  Sadly Kittykins' days may be numbered.  Apparently her "Yarn Festish"  has caused her to lose her mind and roam the house at night in search of my daughter's knitting projects.  Last night she crossed over the line.  She snuck downstairs (as only a cat can do) and uncovered the well hidden baby cap "in progress".  The light of day revealed yarn wound all around the kitchen, dining room and living room in a tangled mess!  I suspect fur is going to fly.  It doesn't look good.   D.C. Confidential, you may have a new member of your D.B. Cat Club!

The Tune du Jour is "Crazy" by the fabulous Patsy Cline. This is one of my all time favorites,  and Kittykins, this is dedicated to you, sistah!

Oh, I love Patsy Cline. And I'm sorry Kittykins has an unhealthy obsession. Maybe we could knit her something of her own? Okay, maybe not...

1st - a beautiful photo - the tones are perfect together. 2nd - that cat is dynamite :) (but I do feel bad for your daughter re all the work that went into the cap :( I wouldn't take it lightly either.

The cat seems to know she's in for it there. Bad news, kitty, bad news.

Uh oh...

Your next picture of Kittykins may be accompanied by the song "Stray Cat Strut."

I am at a lose about what to do. If it was me I might call the dog whisperer.

I have some mohair that just cannot be left out; Soul actually ate a hole in a sweater I am knitting and COVERED UP THE EVIDENCE!

Oh Kittykins,

Isn't she lovely to look at..... My mother was kind enough not to quote me in her post. This baby cap has been a labor of love and to find it mangled and stretched over three entire rooms of my house was not a pretty site. I threatened to give up knitting and use kitty's hide to make caps instead! Hope no one from PETA is reading this. Yes, D.C. Confidential, you can be the proud owner of the Dirty Bitch Cat!

Looks like the cat and the carpet are colour coordinated. Poor cat; have pity!

Katie said...

Melissa I feel bad that Kittykins ruined your knitting project, but I'm cracking up imagining the kitty unravelling it around the house! She looks like such a sweet cat though; at least in this photo. Virginia you need to get a photo of Kittykins with some yarn in her mouth so we'll believe she's evil!

Oh, dear. When I was a child, my father got me a puppy - Scampy. He lasted only a few weeks. Bringing trash from the neighbors' houses into ours did not go over well. . . . .

Virginia said...

To keep PETA off my back I will concede that when she's on her " psychiatric medication" she is the sweetest kitty a little girl could want. It's that darn OCD/ yarn thing that gets her in trouble. :)

The epitomy of "butter wouldn't melt in her mouth"
I don't think I could resist her yarn or not.

Oh my! That story is too funny! I'm sure it wasn't that sweet, innocent kitty-kins. The neighbor's dog probably snuck in and did it! She would never be capable of such mischief. :)

Merrill said...

Halcyon,

We have two pugs as well as a goldfish. I can guarantee you that Kitty is the smartest one in the bunch. No chance of her passing off her crimes on the others......

Melissa and Virginia: I'd kill for less.* As for acquiring another cat, one is MORE than enough for me. Cats are, in my humble opinion, way overrated. (And now I'm going to catch hell from the cat people.)

Having said that, despite his dastardly ways, the DBC has been growing on me over time. I don't know if that says more about me or him. Probably me, because cats are indifferent.

Sorry about your baby cap. :-(

*Well, not really. But you know what I mean.

I too felt the same way about cats. My daughter, age 6 asked for a cat for Christmas. She started asking for one in about June and never let up. In fact, she did not ask for anything else. I was hesitant but my husband talked me into it. So, kitty joined the menagerie to my dismay. Now I adore her, or did, until yesterday morning. Little hussy.

Tha cat is beautiful and so is your photo, Virginia! As someone said before, the perfect match in what concern colors. Maybe it is just too young and will quiet down with age, but until then you go crazy and that is not the perfect mood for a relationship among men and other animals, so I really understand your feelings...

I had to laugh at the cat issue. I remember a beautiful persian cat my mother had .. My brother didnt like the cat, he was about 4 at the time and decided to give the cat a hair cut....It was bad:)

Dogs have owners, cats have staff. Nice picture of a naughty cat.
V, you can "war eagle" at me any time. I am merely an observer of that thing they call volmania. It makes me giggle.

I am definitely a dog trapped in a sultry surly felines body. Confusing!
Save Kittykins, she's so majestic. I vote the Love Cats by the Cure, (so wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully pretty), or of course We are Siamese ()if you please) to accompany next Kittilicious installment.

Virginia said...

Oh Knox, what more could I ask. A true friend indeed. I have an Auburn post coming up in the next few days. You are welcome to whisper a Go Vols since I have been such a smarty pants on yours! Hey, you AU fans, up in Knoxville they have orange port-a-potties with white T's on the door. Click on Knoxville GIrl's address above to see for yourself.

For you cat lovers, never fear Kittykins still has 8 lives left! Thank goodness Eva can't read well enough to see what her Mommy and Mumsie have said about her precious kitty. Future Bad Kitty posts may have to be in Pig Latin or my very poor French!

Jennifer said...

Hey Mumsie...
Thanks for the comments...as far as K-squared goes...that cat is hillarious! for all those out there, this instance with the yarn is one of many "quirks" that Kittykins has. Hopefully Mumsie won't elaborate too much more on the animal situation in her daughter's household-it is definitely amusing at times! Someone earlier made the comment about the color coordination of the cat in the carpet--the truth is all of the animals (cat and two pugs) are all color coordinated!

Mumsie-you were the first one to comment on my blog-you're awesome!

Jen

p.s. Yes, I think I was lucky to get Day-Day in semi-normal clothes..however I was trying to get pics of him during multiple breakdowns!

Janet said...

Uh oh! Instead of "That Darn Cat," she sounds like "That Yarn Cat!"

Virginia said...

RR,
That is a good one. I will have to share that clever title with my daughter.

Jen
Look at you with a school blog and now your new one. Guess I have rubbed off on you. That could be very scary.

Cats are cool! crazy yes, but cool! BTW...it was Willie Nelson who penned "Crazy" but Patsy's voice put it on the map.

Such a typical cat pose. Love Kittykins and the carpet.

When I see this photo all I can think about is what her face with all that attitude would look like if she were to turn and look over her shoulder. she reminds me of this video:
The Ennui of Henri
This was the point of my seagull post nobody liked. ;>(

PS You can always click on the title of a post and get a separate page. Then you can play as many songs as you like, all at once if it pleases you.

Hey...thanks for visiting my blog. I found Kittykins and yes..she certainly resembles mine. The profile picture is my Siamese mix cat that died about 2 years ago at 16 years old. I did about a year's mourning for her. She was such a sweetie. I didn't want another one but that lasted until last week when I found another Siamese mix and brought him home. And he is Trouble with capital letters. But is going to be such a nice cat I think. Very loving. His name is Hank and it fits him well. Pics are on my blog. I love Siamese cats. And if they are a mix, they make a much better personality. Great cats. Thanks for stopping and come back anytime. I was looking at your blog this morning from DC and your pictures are so beautiful and so interesting. Now I know where you are.
