I spent a terrific three days last week in Cincinnati, Ohio with my Paris amie Mary and husband Jay Gilbert. We had some fun!! Mary showed me all over her beautiful city, and I must share some of the photos from that trip with you over the next week or so. Today, the nostalgic and well preserved Esquire Theatre . Built in 1911, it now features independent, foreign and mainstream films on six screens. It's located in the charming Clifton neighborhood.

Funny that you picture this theater today. I spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to research old movie houses. I know I saw this one on the list.
I've got a couple of long gone Birmingham silent movie era theater photos posted on my blog today, the Galax and the Alcazar. I have a photo of the Trianon and the Royal not posted as well. They were found in my uncle's belongings when he died.

I lived in Troy for awhile, which is south of Cincinnati. Ohio is beautiful and underappreciated.

The Cincinnati Tour is available for any FOV (Friend of Virginia) - it's a great little city. We sure do miss our 'Bama Babe though.
It's always nice to visit new places and be surprised by what you discover. Especially nice if you have a personal guide -:)

Never been to Cincinnati. Somebody once said that the movie-rating-of-death, NC 17, actually stands for Not In Cincinnati Or Within A 17 Mile Radius.
Huge tiles behind the marque. That has my curiosity up. It's not easy to do large tiles without running into all sorts of problems but now that I'm typing I'm thinking of floor tiles. I'm going to do some asking around about this
