Meet Mr. Percy B. Hornbuckle. He's been a barber at Magic City Barber Shop on 4th Avenue North since the 1940's. He was kind enough to let me take his picture.
Virginia, what a great moment for the two of you. One of my favorite local singers in Portland is named Linda Hornbuckle. She's amazing, fighting cancer and still performing when she's up to it, a real favorite for lots of us in Portland. This year I saw her at the Portland Art Museum's Gospel Brunch and she sang the national anthem on the 4th of July before the Waterfront Blues Festival's fireworks. What a treat for all of us, both times.

another great portrait
Such calm eyes.
Nice portrait.
A terrific character portrait!
It's hard to find an old school barber. He looks like a man who is comfortable in his own skin.
