Waiting

Advent is a time of waiting. I think this amaryllis is a lovely example.

Les Lumières

Antiquities in Mt. Brook Village, has this enormous basket of small mercury glass votives. Who could resist the purchase or the photograph? Actually I indulged in both!

Here We Come A Caroling

Last night I had the pleasure of joining family and friends at two annual caroling parties.  This time of year can be hectic for sure,  but it's worth it to have such good times celebrating the joys of the season with those you love.

Well Ho Ho Ho!!!

Yesterday, Santa made a personal call to Catala Road in Vestavia Hills via the VHFD.  He heard there had been a lot of good boys and girls so he pulled up a chair in the Lawrence's front yard and had a chat with every one of them.  Unfortunately the low light made photographing that next to impossible.  Take my word for it, everyone enjoyed their time with the bearded one and I even gave him a kiss!

Waiting For Santa

Meeps and I are enjoying our new home this Christmas.  We even have a fireplace so Meeps has been waiting and watching for Santa.

As my Facebook friends know, I've been posting photographs of Meeps all dolled up in assorted scarves and holiday bling.  Today she chose this photo to share with you all.

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and
Joyous  Holiday!

A Quiet Holiday Moment

This is a meaningful, but busy time for so many of us.  However you are celebrating, I hope you take time to relax, remember, reflect, and rejoice!

It's My Blog.......

and I'll post my cute grandchildren on a whim. Taken last Christmas Day when it started snowing in Birmingham.  I've lived here most of my life and NEVER had it snow on Christmas until 2010.  Laura Kate sends her sweet wishes for a magical holiday season. ( The cute pink cap I knitted for big sister Lindley when she was a BABY. We've gotten some miles out of that one!)

A Time to Reflect

My friend Petrea at Pasadena Daily Photo does a Zen Monday on her blog each week.  I'm declaring this Zen Thursday!  I don't know about ya'll but right about now I need to stop and do what my yoga instructor India tells us, " Inhale deeply, now exhale slowly."  She also reminds us not to clench our teeth!!  This week I think I've done that more than once.  So today, we take a break for the frantic, frenzied, fun and festivities of this season.  May we all take deep breaths, enjoy this peaceful scene and refocus our thoughts on the true meaning of this season.

Bah Humbug Day

                                                                                  After!
Ever wonder why Ebeneezer Scrooge was such a grouch?  Putting up the Christmas tree!!  Every year for as long as I have been single, Christmas Tree Day has found me muttering "Bah Humbug" and many other expletives under my breath.  Today was Bah Humbug Day.  In an effort to make this special day of the year a little less stressful for myself, I bought a new, slimmer, PRELIT tree.  Once I hauled the 100 pound box up my basement stairs, fluffed each and every branch, put it all together, figured out the light situation, the rest was a piece of cake.  The tree is up , twinkling , decorated and I am feeling that rosy glow of Christmas coming over me.  ( That could be the wine, I'm not sure.) Anyway, today is December 5th and my tree is ready to go. I will deck the rest of the halls this weekend.   I proudly present the end result! Noel Arrive as they say in Paris!

Ho, Ho, HUH???

I see you rubbing your eyes and doing a double take.  I did the same thing.  Yes, it's September 16th and a very popular shop in the area has had a Christmas tree, decorations, and assorted party goods for sale for weeks.   The last time I checked, Christmas came AFTER Thanksgiving around here, not BEFORE Halloween.  I don't know how you feel, but I think Christmas in September is just plain wrong.  Bah humbug!

There will be no further mention of Christmas until December 1st- period!

The Tune du Jour is NOT a Christmas song,  it's "Minor Swing" by Romane - a catchy instrumental with no suggestion of jingling bells, snow or the man in the red suit.  You might have to give the Deezer a minute to "warm up" today. Seems a bit sluggish.
