Collins Bar

Thankfully our downtown is hopping with new restaurants, bars, shops and so much more. Second Avenue North is especially cool right now. Saturday I snapped a few photos from curbside at Collins Bar. The umbrellas hanging from the trees caught me eye, of course. I"ll try and visit one night and report back.

So Long Summer, 2011

This colorful umbrella and the ice cream stand at the Whistle Stop Festival last weekend, was a reminder that very soon ( maybe) our temps here in Alabama will start to feel more like fall and we'll be shopping for pumpkins!  In the meantime, we are still enjoying warm weather with just a hint of fall, and still buying ice cream!

Red Hot!

That about sums up the weather down here. Whew!! Thank goodness for the shade of this umbrella at Chez Lulu's in English Village. It helped.......a little.

Mon Nouveau Parapluie

"Into each life some rain must fall." I say just pop open your chic Parisian parapluie and enjoy the view overhead.

Ella Fitzgerald and the Ink Spots have a tune for you today. You'll be very sorry if you don't give it a listen!

* I'm not at all certain my français is correct today.....quelle surprise! Correction s'il vous plait.

Les Parapluies et le Bouquet

It was another rainy day at the Pepper Place yesterday. I decided that I'd have a little fun with all the umbrellas that showed up. Even though autumn is coming, there were still some lovely bouquets to be made and shared.

Red Hats

Do the Red Hat ladies do lunch here?  They should !  Looking for all the world like a group of bright red sun hats, these umbrellas shelter patrons at V. Richards Market on Clairmont Avenue in Birmingham's Forest Park neighborhood from the hot summer sun.  Lately it's been a little steamy, but every time I pass by,  folks seem to be enjoying eating outdoors, regardless of the temperature.
