Smoking in the Alley - Table/Chairs Series III

Not the usual fare from BADP. My producer/manager cautioned against using it in fact, but since when do I listen to his good advice?  That,  coupled with a low inventory gave me the courage to post this photo. I am fairly certain that not one of my Birmingham readers will know where this "lovely" spot is located. Want to guess anyone? I'll post the location tomorrow!

( Uh yes, I fiddled with the soft focus a little,  just for fun.  This is a nod to my friend JB at Mainz, Germany  Daily Photo who would call this an "arty farty" shot! )

Has that alleyway at Cobb Lane feel to me! Did ereally close permanently?

A sad and abandoned place, wherever it is. Fiddling with the colours has positively intensified the atmposphere which you caught very well! Have a good sunday, V!!

er....a
Did they really close pemanently?

No clue about the location, but I'm really glad you posted this photo. The soft focus definitely makes this place seem less abandoned. Pretty brick patio though.

Now this one I really like - which will come as no surprise to you, I suspect! I like the dribbling rust, the flaking paint, the dangling electricals. I am pleased that your eye can see this style of compostion. Now I think you have two toes in the water ...

Haven't a clue of course where this might be, but the chair reminds me of those I used to sit on eons ago in Sunday School. In the summer my legs would stick to the metal seat, and in the winter it was chilly at first I like the colors and composition here!

What a great idea to have a table/chair series. Clever Kim. I love this photograph - arty farty maybe but goodness, it works and such beautiful colours. Loved yesterday's too - gorgeous light and shadows and reflections - the lot.

Your photographs are so often like paintings, Virgina.

The rusty effect works really well!

FireLight,
Sad but true that Cobb Lane is closed. Good guess, but that's not it!

Julie,
I knew you'd be all over this, or hoped you would!

Bibi,
I'm with you. I can remember my legs sticking to the metal chairs as well. HA! Thanks for that.

Ok, my husband has a guess (which I will try to type in correctly):
Near a backstage door of Boutwell Auditorium.

The bricks are puzzling me.
I do love the color contrasts and textures.

Hmmmm.....

Never fear. This shot was a success. Love it.

Could this be a house in your neighborhood?

Which proves that the wall is older than the chair or that the chair has been made in a better quality. Of course if it stayed for all this time outside... lol

V, per your request I posted some additional pics of our blogger gathering in Southern Cal.

Looks like you have one fine camera!

Well as I don't know the area I'll guess the back of a restaurant. Its worth a punt!

I like this shot. Its a reminder to me to push the boundaries a bit more :)

I love random shots of nothing much ... often they make the best photos to imagine backstories to/for

Thanks for visiting my blog .. I know I will be back here, love your 'eye'

I like the shot, but that spot is seriously not beckoning me to sit there!

Maya
If you'll sit there if you want to have a smoke bad enough-HA

Cafe,
Merci, I'll be over to see the shenanigans at the blogfest. Thanks for visiting! Rufffff ( It's a Canon Rebel XTI)

Thankfully NOT my neighborhood!HA

Katie,
The brick "patio" is a lovely touch but only big enough for about one more old folding chair.

This is lovely. The rust is especially interesting.

Another interesting chair. As Snapper warned me, don't stand on this to get a shot.

The color and composition in this is drop dead gorgeous. The rust color is beautiful but the bit of scraggly plant on the left is the finishing touch.

Ok, I am taking a clue from the title....smoking in the alley.....
Is this near the backdoor of Dreamland Barbecue?
I looked close for a few bones....
If not, gives us a CLUE?

FireLight said...

Uh oh....right under our noses....
The back door at Che Fon Fon where the chef takes a break.

Virginia said...

FireLight,
Oh I love me some ribs!!!! I am almost ready for smokin' season. I have me a big ole orange smoker that will rival Dreamland. Sorry , not even CLOSE sistah. Whooo Eeeee, you'll be surprised tomorrow.

Greetings from Nola! We're back from the French Quarter where I saw and photographed the "carpet bomb" t-shirt, among other subject matter, of ocurse.
I'm guessing this is near somebody's studio? Nice series with the chairs, hope to see some of them soon.

May not be usual, but it is the unusual that tells a different story.

(Word verification is "inspie", I can't but help to think it a misspelling for 'inspire')

I love that it is unusual. Beautiful, in a sad, sort of forgotten way. I am glad you posted it!

I had a smoker's alley in mono. This has those earthy Parisian colours or is that iron deposits. As you can see playing cath up server issues.
