Tonight's Line- Up

It's almost baseball season.  How do I know?  Because I have seen the wee tiny tots out "practicing" when I walk every afternoon.  I promise I will take my camera and capture some of the "Baby Ruths" one day soon.

Today, a shot of my friend Connor that I took at Rickwood Field.  Some of you may remember that I have shared other photos from Rickwood, here and here.  It's America's Oldest Baseball Field and we are quite proud of it.  It has been lovingly preserved down to the vintage signs on the outfield fencing.  The Friends of Rickwood Field have done a nice job of keeping it up to par.  Maybe we'll see Connor play there one day!

I love this shot! It looks very old-timey in B&W.

Agree with Maya. Takes me back to my youth! Good luck capturing the Baby Ruths... I used to eat those all the time...

I just read your profile : "grand mother" means "mother" too, of course. How many delightful children ?
When it is "the French"'s (Roland Gazrros) time, one can notice plenty people paying tennis everywere. Maybe it is normal : the weather is nice then.
:)
I like the rabbit, I'll publish one for my Eastern post.
(Is it chocolate)

He's no firefighter, but he is cute! I hope he makes it on the lineup.

What's interesting to me is the array of names on the board. Baseball has come a long way.

I can tell this kid has got the athlete's swagger.

Very cool shot. Some things just don't change, that could have been taken anytime since photography exists, I love it!

My husband remembers going there with his grandfather to see the Birmingham Baron's, a double AA baseball team. However, what must have been most memorable for him was seeing James Brown there 1960 or '61! He remembers taking the bus down 3rd Avenue, and the stop for Rickwood was stll three or more blocks away. I believe several films which required a scene -of- or -in- a vintage stadium have featured it.

FireLight,
Right. Several films have been made here and I imagine the website I linked has that info. I hope so!
And tell your husband I wouldn't have minded seeing JB perform myself!

I like the way this young boy is standing, very serious!
And I'm a fan of your B&W. But you already know that ;-)
Have a good weekend, Virginia!

What a neat place! This is a great shot, too! I hope he gets to see his name up on the board.

Fabulous photo, V! I love it. You have such a great eye, esp. when the scene involves people.

Virginia, this is such a cute photo! This boy is adorable and the photo is timeless, it could have been taken in the fifties...
