Theme Day: Yellow .....Brick Road!

Today, the first of April, is Theme Day for City Daily Photo Bloggers around the world.  We voted for YELLOW as our theme so here's my entry. It's Dorothy (Eva) and the friendly witch (Maddie) skipping down the Yellow Brick Road  at the A Night in Oz  fundraiser for the Birmingham Children's Theater.  I have a little bonus entry at the bottom.  A still life I took in my kitchen during my first photography class in January, 2008.

Hundreds of Daily Photo bloggers around the globe have posted their interpretation of YELLOW.  Take a look!

I am pleased to introduce a new blog today.  My friends at La Bonne Etoile have launched their new blog.  Have a look!  Don't forget that there is still time to register for the photography workshop I will lead there in July.  See the blog or the info on my sidebar for more information.

Ah, lovely little princesses! I hope to meet your Eva very soon!
I've enjoyed La bonne Etoile's blog, so many nice ladies painting in fields and gardens. I think Peter must pay a visit!;-))

superbe photo, la première fille a des yeux magnifiques.

superb photo, first daughter has beautiful eyes.

It is the eyes, the gloriously open eyes.

However, they are not a penny on the lemons. The light and dark on the lemons is to die for. And that one sliced through ..

What is the max number of the tour group?

The lovely brick road shot is a natural for the theme today, Virginia. The stilllife, a real beauty, especially with the sliced lemon. All beautifully done! Happy Theme Day!

I love the Wizard of Oz and his Yellow Brick Road. And your lemons remind me I have been wanting to make a lemon cake....

Check out my blog. I am so proud--Bibi made headlines!!!

Love the yellow path!

All she needs are a pair of red shoes. Maybe that will be next month's theme.

B Squared - She had outgrown the red slippers so we had to improvise! ha

Julie, Max on the workshop is 7 lucky people! I still have my fingers crossed.

Alice, I can't wait for you to meet the gang. We need to start planning what we'll see while you're with us.

Sally and Raf, Thanks for stopping by today.

Wonderful choice for yellow day! The girls look great and I'm sure they had a fun time doing Wizard of Oz. Now I'm having flashbacks of playing the lead monkey in our 6th grade production of that classic.

The yellow-brick-road just lit up my face - they are so deligtful!
Your still life is just wonderful too. It reminds me of one of my favorite paintings by de Zurbaran - Still Life with Lemons, Oranges and a Rose (http://www.nortonsimon.org/collections/browse_title.php?id=F.1972.06.P) from the Norton Simon Museum in (of all places) Pasadena. You'll have to come out and visit soon.

cute kids! heck, I owe you a year's supply of Minnie Pearl fried chicken! (no one remembers that but me..) next time!

Oh, I get it, but since when did Dorothy hold hands with the Wicked Witch? What if it started to rain and the witch melted? My wife is from Kansas and she has a sister named Dorothy who still lives there, so I am knowledgeable in these matters. But anyway, this is a creative idea and well shot. The lighting is just right.

Pretty darn nice light and modeling on those lemons, too.

Just about perfect!

Ken Mac,
You stood me up and I can't be bought with Minnie Pearl's fried chicken for Pete's sake! We'll negotiate.

Bob,
Dorothy and the Witch are dear friends, what can I say!

Tash,
Glad you like it. Can't wait to visit the webesite you mentioned.

Sharon,
Glad you stopped by!!!

B,
Glad you're online again. Oh goodness the internet problems are a pain!

You found a yellow brick road! Fun! And the girls are so cute! A wonderful post for theme day!

Today Birmingham, tomorrow Broadway! I love Dorothy's expression. Wouldn't Pat's lovely Bibi be perfect in the role of Toto, if the girls preferred a live actor in the part, that is? I'm just envisioning Katie as one of the flying monkeys (creatures of my childhood nightmares, so Katie must have been cast against type--she's more a tall, willowy goddess type in real life :-) ).

I love the lemons in blackness. How did you do that?

At the risk of blowing the "mystic" the lemons were on a black plate on my dark kitchen counter! I was just learning manual mode in my photography class so it was probably an exposure goof that paid off!

How clever, Virginia! Love the 1st photo and the title! Very well done!

Eva is such a good and willing model for you, Virginia. The Yellow Brick Road looks like so much fun for all those little people. Very nice work on the lemons.

My v word is salsa!
