Porch Sittin' Time

Well summer is definitely here in Birmingham. Some days it's just too hot to sit outside but this porch is a nice place to try and beat the heat. This is my friend Caroline's front porch. She lives in my neighborhood and hosted our neighborhood ladies' group (wine) a while back. Of course I couldn't pass up this photo op. It reminds me a lot of those grand old porches in the North Carolina mountains. Don't you just want to put your feet up and rock???

LA,
Actually our "group" is called Cliff Road Women, but most of us don't live on CLiff Road. We have shortened it to just plain ole "WINE"!ha

Oh, that is pretty! That stone must be local because I have seen what I guess would be called pillars made of the same kind to mark the entrance to neighborhoods.

You bet, and watch the neighbors stroll by. Yet another marvelous table/chair set.

I don't think I would mind the heat if I could rock there.

It is a beautiful porch and Cliff Road is a beautiful street, which is why I make a point to drive down Highland Avenue every time I come to Birmingham. I lived around the corner back in the 1970s and I've loved the area ever since. Thanks!

Judi,
You'd better come down Rockford Road the next time you're in B'ham!

Homes should still be built with lovely big porches like this. Porches encourage conversations and relaxation, something we are sadly missing out on usually.
