Three wonderful new installations, celebrating 15 years of the Pepper Place Market is taking place as we speak. Yesterday I went down to take some shots. Most Saturdays for the last 15 years, the market has featured local chefs doing what they do best........cooking something scrumptious for the crowd. Now that venue features my very dear friend Chef Cliff Holt, from my favorite Birmingham restaurant, Little Savannah. There are two more pieces going up, and I will feature soon.

CDP Theme Day - Edges
The Cutting Edge
Well I don't mind telling you that I struggled mightily with this theme. I had almost given up and decided not to be a CDP team player this month, when I found this one. I caught Chef Cliff Holt ( Little Savannah Restaurant in Forest Park) chopping the daylights out of some flat leaf parsley recently. His captive audience was an enthusiastic group gathered for his Saturday cooking school. I was lucky enough to be able to join the fun as the hungry photographer!
Hundreds of of City Daily Photobloggers around the world are joining this Theme Day. Give them a look!

What's Cooking, Cliff?
Meet my good friend Cliff Holt. He and his beautiful wife Maureen have made Little Savannah one of Birmingham's most popular and respected restaurants. Want to know the best part? It's within walking distance from my house! They use locally grown produce and if you want a fabulous meal.....head to Clairmont Avenue in Forest Park. My favorites you ask? Well everything on their ever changing menu is terrific, but their shrimp and grits are the best in town, and I'm a little partial to the Provençal Violette Sparkler at the bar!
I shot these during one of their Saturday morning cooking classes. They meet the group at the Pepper Place Market and shop for the freshest Alabama produce then move to the restaurant to prepare a delicious meal. ( Maybe "Kiss the Cook" should have been my title! )
