Zig Zag II

A few weeks ago when I was down under 1st Avenue North at the Sloss Furnaces Iron Pour, I noticed this stairway in silhouette.  Apparently it goes up to 1st Avenue.  I'm not sure why.  This was one time I was smart enough not to try and  find out!

Two Great Things That Happened Today!
*I am pleased to have 2 blogger friends staying  chez moi.  Janet, (D.C. Confidential) , and Maya ( Maya Photography ) , are here,  and we are planning an excursion to Cullman, Al today to see the amazing Ave Maria Grotto. Stay tuned for photos and a few tales I'm sure!!

* I received word that I had won 2nd Place in the Samford University Earth Day Art Exhibit!

Wow! A fellow Birmingham photographer! Great photo :) I don't know why I never thought of it! I stood on that staircase to get a few shots at the "cupola competition" April 1! I look forward to seeing more. Glad to have found you!

Virginia, I know you'll have a GREAT time with Janet and Maya BUT CONGRATULATIONS on your 2nd place award in the Samford University Earth Day Art Exhibit!! What did you submit - or did I miss that?

Wuhoo! You're smokin; girl!!

And can I say that I really like the grittiness of your posts at the moment.

Marvelous captured zig-zag silhouette, Virginia - nearly a very artful sculpture.

Do you know you are my third prodigy on the blog circuit who has won something in a comp. Kelly Geneva, and Misty Dawn. I can spot talent a mile off. Mega congrats. It's the balance between light and shade and man made and nature, the trees peeping through. Classy. Hotmail is a mare but hopefully you have a few french pics in your inbox. Sure you are giving your guest a great welcome. Have fun.

The header today is the photo I submitted for the Earth Day comp.

Tip that image on it's side and it's 3/4s of the way to to being a W.

Let's go for dinner V. You're buying.

Virginia, no wonder that photo won a prize at the competition! When the page loaded, that top photo just jumped in my face. It's incredibly powerful yet so soft in colours, and rich, deep and full of mystery...
Congratulations!

And now I hope you have a wonderful time with your blogger friends. We both know how much fun can be had on these occasions. Enjoy!

And I just HAD to compliment you also on your Solitary Cell and Tom Rat's Room gritty photos, I love them!

Can I just give you a tip? In French you wouldn't say "at chez moi" because chez moi already means at my place, so in effect you'd have the word "at" twice.
We would say "I am pleased to have 2 blogger friends staying chez moi". But the use of chez moi may have taken on a life of its own in the USA?

V, I really love your winning photo. My father who was stationed in England during WWII used to comment, "We are having an English sort of morning"...or afternoon...or day...when the weather looked like this.
Have fun with your visitors!

You may have done this already...but I was wondering if you had been over to Ross Bridge to photgraph the piper who plays a sunset every day.

I guess I'm sort of speechless - That is one beautiful photo, Virginia. What more can I say?

Well, I guess I ask you to say hello to Janet. She and I are linked via Debi. I don't know how everybody knows everybody else...its not all thru the blogs, is it?

Virginia said...

Thanks everyone! We've had a busy and fun day, so sorry I couldn't answer you all.
