CHILL!

The temps in Birmingham are dancing all around 100F every day, and this is all I could find to cool us off.
Homewood's Central pool has this cool fountain that looks pretty inviting.  Last one in the pool's a rotten egg!

Helping Hands

VSA of Alabama pairs 100 community artists with over 150 emerging artists, youngsters and adults living with disabilities and chronic illnesses.  Last Sunday, Birmingham pediatrician Dr. John Cortopassi teamed up with VSA's Art Partners and opened his office to his very special patients.  There was a whole lot of painting going on with plenty of encouragement from Dr. Cortopassi, not to mention the grand finale...the ice cream truck! Thank you Mary Jane Coker and VSA for asking me to be the photographer.  I don't know when I've been so moved or had so much fun at the same time.  I asked Mary Jane to select the photo and this is the one she chose.  If I play my cards right I might get to join them again for their monthly sessions at their southside offices.

NOTE: August 19th is their annual Live Auction fundraiser at B&A Warehouse  where you can purchase some of these masterpieces!

Dance Like Nobody's Watching...

 I had a great time photographing The Episcopal Place's annual Gumbo Gala at Sloss Furnaces last Saturday.  This adorable little girl had a ball dancing down in front of the band. The Crawfish never missed a beat all day despite the 98F temps! More photos coming.

BADP is FOUR Today!

Yes, it's hard to believe, but my blog baby is four years old today.  Do the math....1,492 blog posts according to Blogger and 444 followers.  On June 20, 2008, I started this blog with Eric Tenin as my inspiration.  I did it purely to make myself get out there and take more photographs ( little did I know!) so I could improve my skills.  What I didn't realize was the world it would open  up for me.  With the help of Janet Gresham ( Selma AL Photo Blog) I began to make my way into Blog World and what a wonderful world it has been.  In these past four years I've made so many wonderful blog and reader friends, many of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting in person.  I thank you all for your visits, your emails and your faithful comments.  And now, before I start sniffling, I will let Laura Kate blow out the candles and get this party started!!!

Beverly Ruff  loves her poodles, and this one comes to her antique store in Mt. Brook every day.  She seems quite at home amongst the beautiful vintage linens and lace and was quite happy to pose in her pearls on the antique settee!

A New Nest

My friends Caroline and E.T., lost their home to a devastating fire over a year ago.  As friends and neighbors we've watched as their new home has taken shape. Yesterday some of us got a peek ( and a glass or two of wine) at what promises to be a wonderful new home for their family by the end of the summer.   I found this bird's nest in a window. I think it's fitting.

CDP Theme Day - Tranquility

After a few months off ( forgetting!), I'm back on board and joining my fellow City Daily Photo blog friends around the world for June's Theme Day!!  We will have travel a bit south of Birmingham to find this tranquil spot on Lake Martin.  It doesn't get more relaxing than this, believe me!
