Feeling the Connection
Several weeks ago I revisited The Four Spirits memorial at Kelly Ingram Park to take a few more photos for the sculptor, Elizabeth MacQueen. While I was there, this fine looking school group, who had traveled all the way from Kentucky was kind enough to pose for me. I love visiting this memorial. It seems everyone that sees it is drawn to put their hands on the pieces. A wonderful connection.

Watching
During the Revive Birmingham street party, this gentlemen just seemed to be sitting back and enjoying the fun. The chalk wall and piano were part of the Revive installation. What a great idea.

HUMANS OF BIRMINGHAM I - Samford University
If you follow me on Facebook , you know that I have fallen in love with Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind the wildly successful HUMANS OF NEW YORK. He started out doing street in several cities but when he landed in NYC, he stayed and now his FB page and blog have blown off the charts. His book by the same name came out this week and when I got mine in the mail I read it from cover to cover. He has that fabulous way of connecting to strangers and I'll tell you, it's contagious. I'm not starting a new blog, heaven knows I can't keep up the two I have, but I"m up for a good challenge and Brandon's inspired me. I love his way of asking questions and interacting so......yesterday at Samford University I was out shooting with some students and found my first HOB ( Humans of Birmingham). I will never be as good as my new friend Brandon Stanton, but he is my new inspiration and I will share from time to time right here for you!
"What are you majoring in "
"Religion"
"What will you do with that degree?"
"I hope to do counseling or social work."

Send In the Clowns
I had the great job of photographing Art In Avondale Park last weekend. I do the usually documentary shots but really love that I get to find the special moments that I love so much. This beautiful girl was busy painting but I was lucky enough to capture her in a pensive moment.

100+ Strangers Challenge - Man With Blue Umbrella
It's been a long time since I shared one of my 100+ Strangers. This gentleman was sitting at the Finley Avenue Flea Market, selling used goods from his car. We stopped and I asked if I could take his picture. He was happy to oblige.

Love At First Sight?
Yesterday I had the privilege of shooting another Adopt A Golden Birmingham event at Hollywood Feed. This is the most heartwarming time when Goldens in foster care get to meet potential humans that will be their "furrever" family. I think Polly wanted to be this sweet girl's new best friend.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Details
Birmingham sculptor, Elizabeth MacQueen's powerful sculpture The Four Spirits, was unveiled on the 50th anniversary of the bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church taking the lives of four innocent little girls in 1963. Pictured here is Cynthia Wesley sitting on the bench with an open book in her lap. Look closely and you see it's an excerpt from Y.B.Yeat's poem, The Stolen Child.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
Today my City Daily Photoblog friends around the world are sharing their take on this month's theme......details. Click here to see them all!
