No matter how many times I shoot at Sloss Furnaces, I always find something new that catches my eye.

Blue Box

I'm not the least mechanical, so these blue boxes around Sloss Furnaces,  have always been a puzzle,  but a photographer's delight!

Because you're mine....

I walk the line.  

Actually this white line is a slice of daylight from the  overpass of 1st Avenue North that runs over the parking lot at Sloss Furnaces. 

How could I resist this tune today?  Thank you Johnny Cash.

These stairs at Sloss Furnaces lead up to First Avenue North above.  I don't go very far up without a handrail, no matter how great the photo op!

Hearty Souls

This was taken last Friday when the temps was probably in the high 30's, but we found at least five varieties of ferns growing out of the bricks and rocks here at Sloss Furnaces.

Yesterday, my photography buddy Michael and I stopped off at Sloss Furnaces. It was cold and overcast but we decided to see if we could find some new things that we'd not shot before.  We've both been there more times than we could count.  A challenge but he and I both agreed that we saw t his wonderful Birmingham landmark with new eyes. I have lots  more to share!

what this is or how it was used.  The late afternoon light is what drew me into this room full of old machinery at Sloss Furnaces.

As a Bystander

I walked up on this lovely young lady at Sloss Furnaces not long ago.  I wasn't her photographer, but I snuck a few shots.  I love her dress against the industrial backdrop.

It's been many, many years (39 to be exact) since these old stacks at Sloss Furnaces were smoking but last week the clouds made it look like they were back in business!

I see you scratching your head! Well let me explain. Today is the 5th Birthday for Eric Tenin's Paris Daily Photo. What started as one Parisian's daily photoblog has over these past five years, mushroomed into a worldwide community of hundreds of bloggers that post a photo each day from their city. I have had the pleasure of meeting Eric twice in Paris. His blog is what got me "hooked", and I've shared with him what a terrific ride this has been for me, as I travel around the world everyday to visit my CDP blog friends and learn more about the places they call home. Today we stop to sing a rowdy "Joyeux Anniversaire" to Eric, whom I like to call le Roi de la City Daily Photo!

Eric has a few photo techniques that we all enjoy. He loves to shoot at wacky angles and often from ground level. I opted for the easier one! :)

Across the Tracks

This building sits across the railroad tracks from Sloss Furnaces. I have no idea what it was used for in the past. It looks abandoned, yet I thought the afternoon sun really showed it off!
