Saturday is
Pepper Place Day for hundreds of Birminghamians. It's the place to buy fresh vegetables and fruits, flowers, herbs, craft items, and divine homebaked goodies. In addition, you get to hear live music, see a cooking demonstration by local chefs, AND you get to see everybody you know! I always grab my camera, because you never know when you are going to walk past someone as lovely as this Sunflower Girl.

Thanks for your visit to my SkyWatch Friday post, Virginia.
I'm on the road and in the field doing another photo trip chasing the bloom of our Rosebay Rhododendron (white blossoms) in the northern area of the Southern Appalachian mountains, and with lodging that does not have the most reliable internet service. I won't be home again for a few more days yet, but I did finally develop and upload a few images to update my July 7 Rhododendron post.
Sunrise this morning was a washout, literally, with locally heavy thunderstorms--looks like the rain won't ease up until later morning so I'm going to breakfast soon. But I wanted to try and get around to all who visited my SWF, and others too while I still have good internet access. So, please forgive this cut & paste with a small bit of personalization added--I do appreciate your visit and your comments.
This photo of yours is a show stopper. What wonderful contrasts and tonalities present in it. Good job.
BTW, I like your SWF as well.
Jim
I really like the contrasts in this photo but also the girl's face so pretty...
I'm enjoying your street portraits, one of my favorite genres. Brighten this one up in the computer and see how it looks. Had the most incredible luck in that area today - I was driving downtown near my office when I saw a man walking down the street with a cat on his shoulders. So I whipped over to the curb and... There's an incredible back story. I think that's going up Wednesday, after a three-day series starting tomorrow. If I can remember what day of the week it is.
I gave it another tweaking. Better?? Sometimes my photos show up looking washed out on here, so I am hesitant to lighten too much.
Can't wait to see the man and his cat!
Virginia, you did a fabulous job on that portrait. She has such a beautiful smile and she looks so happy with her sunflowers.
Cute girl! I like they way you captured her expression ...
If I were there, I would certainly be a regular visitor to this market (?).
I went to similar Saturday markets at SF and BOston and loved them very much.
And oh, those peaches, they are so expensive here (they are imported from Australia and the US).
This is really a wonderful portrait, Virginia!
Thank you very much for your wonderful comments, Virginia! See you soon, ciao!
Great shot of a nice looking girl. Reality doesn't need improving.
