A Rose in Memory's Garden

* This week's Guest Photographer is my dear friend Jean Reed. We go back a very long way together, and she was taking fabulous photographs long before I even thought about it. Jean is also writing her own text this week!

My father bought and planted this rose bush for me when I bought my house. Despite a lack of care and tending, it blooms each year reminding me of my sweet dad.

It’s only fitting for me to begin my guest appearance on Virginia’s blog with a tribute to my dad. I am my Father’s Daughter---a true Southern “Daddy’s Girl.” My father worked for an international construction firm and spent a lot of time traveling the world alone. My dad’s camera was his constant companion, and my love of photography stemmed from his lifelong love. Growing up, my family spent many evenings watching slideshows of our family, friends, and the world ---or, the view of the world through his eyes!

Jean, Being a Daddy's girl as well I can surely relate! Beautiful roses and a wonderful memory. I feel as if I can smell them from here. Thank you for sharing.

Here's to your daddy, Virginia. He certainly raised a wonderful daughter.

Bibi,
This is my friend Jean's post. She is my guest photographer for a week. I know it's confusing with me dropping in and out!

Jean,
You're off to a great start!

Do you know what type of rose it is? I love that shade of pink. And it's nice to have a living reminder of such an important person in your life. :)

Halcyon,
I'm wondering if my memory serves me correctly that it is a Queen Victoria rose. The nursery where we bought that rose bush sold beautiful roses and hydrangas--but they closed many years ago. I've had it 22 years!

Altadenahiker,
Thanks for your comment. My dad was a handsome man ---but he was much more than that! He was a very interesting guy and I learned much from him!

A pretty shade of pink, soft and delicate. A fine remembrance of our father.
