This lovely creek runs through a lush and scenic walking trail in
Robert Jemison Park, in the suburb of Mountain Brook. I am planning to use the "green" ecologically friendly version as my new banner photo but decided to fool around with this one a little. I pulled out all the stops didn't I! This should please the Photoshop junkies in the group.
The Tune du Jour is by request from
Babooshka - "Creeque Alley" by who else....The Mamas & The Papas. Try and picture Babooska singing the lead and moi playing the tambourine, of course. Tune requests are welcome anytime.

i found you via bibi's blog...great photos, will be back to visit.
Thanks for being the first commentator after my return to the blogging world! (Here I'm only second.)
un beau paysage en sépia, bon choix, toujours un peu de nostalgie.
a beautiful landscape in sepia, good choice, always a bit of nostalgia.
Hello !
Toujours aussi "mystérieuses" Tes photos...
Oh this is delightful. Image and song in synergy. I have put the fat suit on and am belting out one of my all time fav ipod ditties. Your tambourine is like a metronome, but I am no Mama Cass, definitely more a Kate Bush wail.
Thank you.
The creeks and rivers are a runnin' these days...perhaps "Proud Mary?"
I came over from Peter's blog. You have a very interesting blog, I have enjoyed reading through some of your older posts.
I'm new to the blog world as I started on the 10th of August, my blog is Malta Magic at www.marie6-myworld.blogspot.com if you'd like to visit.
What a great photo! It would make a wonderful canvas print!
Thanks for your welcome and your visit. I have just managed to put visitors map on my blog which I copied from carrie hayes whom I went to from your blog so now I'm feeling rather proud of myself. Cheers!
Stunning sepia tone, wow,m what a beauty!
Good Morning - I made my way to your blog through Kitty's wonderful "New York Portraits" blog.
This photo is so serene...perfect for my morning :-)

Excellent, Virginia! Fine nostalgia-inducing image!
"Louis" has added a link to your blog at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.
"Louis's" friend in Birmingham he wrote you about stopped selling gas because it was no longer profitable. However, if you need repairs, his station is at 800 10th Avenue South in Birmingham. It is by the University (UAB). His phone is (205) 252-0250.
I feel like puttin' on my sweetest cooton frock, pushin' my bloomers up over my knees, and wadin' in the water.
So far, it looks like Gustav is going to the west of us. I'm sure we'll get wind and rain and you possibly may receive some weather yourselves.
I never knew the name of that song....The only thing missing in the picture is an old miner with a pan squatting on the side of the creek. Very nice.
Very cool. I'm sure I saw a Civil War soldier behind that tree...
That looks so refreshing. But why the monochrome? How bout an addtional pic of the original? I like green!
Cool photo, cool music. Nice combination, Virginia..
un petit ruisseau bien agréable !
Ken Mac, Hold your horses, the "green" version will be my new banner photo by tomorrow with any luck! :)
Merci Melanie. I only had to look up "ruisseau" (creek, stream)!
Glad you all liked Babooshka's tune pick today, I did too!
I would trade the Great White Way for that water way! What I wouldn't give for a few hours of the tranquility captured in your image.
Beautiful shot! Reminds me of when I lived in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio.
Let me know if Babooshka sends you a recording for you to post on your blog.;)
Great Picture mom, would love that one on paper!!! I was just there this morning for my run!! Some take the road to finish the run, I can't ever pass up running through the woods on the trail besides this spot!!! Love, Your adoring, Tree Hugging, Granola, daughter-kathleen
Everybody is saying Sepia, but is it? Or something a little harder to accomplish? It does not look like Sepia to me, it is gorgeous though. Fall will be great there.
Leedra,
I use IPHOTO and I went sepia and used the Fade Color button some. The sepia in IPHOTO is always too yellow to suit me. I also hit Soft Edges a titch since I was jazzing this one way up! I have Elements now, but not too spiffy with that just yet. I am glad you like the effect.
Kat,
The copy is "in the mail" HA. Watch for snakes along the stream! Yikes.
Oh, this is magical Virginia. It reminds me of my childhood walks along a creek that ran alongside a street in our neighborhood. I'm sure, in reality, the creek looked nothing like this. But in my memories? You nailed it!
Wonderful effects, Virginia. I really like this in the sepia tone. Plus, I see the perfect rock to spend an afternoon unwinding and listening to the creek.
wow....what a great creek...I love it as a banner and with the sepia tones....thanks for dropping by.....
