Snow Fell on Alabama

Yesterday morning we woke up to a winter wonderland of sorts. Who knew the weatherman would be right for once? A nice covering of very wet snow made for a perfect photo op. This is the way we like snow down here. It snows, the roads stay clear, you get all the photos you can take, and by noon it's all melted and you're done for the winter. What could be better! A little like ordering a snowfall online! I came home yesterday with almost 400 pictures in my camera. No, I won't make you look at them all, but you'll have to humor me and let me share quite a few!!!

Oh, I'm so excited by these photos, you'd think it was snowing here. The pictures are so lovely.

V., I picked up on old book off my bookcase from 1912 - Wonders of the World described by Great Writers. It had an article on The Eiffel Tower by M. Eiffel himself. It's mostly about the construction (which very much appeals to me) however, I am sure you would enjoy it too. Here is the link - I typed it myself (that 8th grade typing class really paid off) - so any mistakes are mine not M. Eiffel's. http://docs.google.com/View?id=dddrs8xz_1c5sttwtz (There is also an old B&W photo which I'll have to add later.)
Have a marvellous, white Sunday.

I am glad I registered to Alabama DP and watch this...

The winter scenes are soft and lovely. The lamp photo would make a great Christmas card.

Yes, share as many as you'd like! I love the way you and your camera see things and look forward to snow Virginia/Alabama style.

Oh Tash, Thank you so much for taking the time to type it. I can't wait to read it. You know I met the author of "Eiffel's Tower" last June in Paris. She spoke about the book and I have been meaning to buy it. Her name is Jill Jonnes and I featured her on my Paris blog!

Bratt,
Snow is nothing new to you I'm sure!

Thérèse, I suspect snow IS something new for you! :)

Kate,
We get it so seldom that it's really fun to phtograph. It was all gone by noon yesterday!

Ineke,
Thanks for your visit and comment!!!

Photoshop a red bow around the lamp and voila...you've got the perfect photo for your Christmas cards.

What beautiful pictures! This is exactly what I was looking for when I went to see the Christmas lights at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville last month.

Wow, that top shot is a stunner. Snow makes me feel so cozy when I'm not out slogging around in it.

400 pictures!?? You're as nuts as I am. But then, again, if they all look as good as these two, I don't blame you for taking so many!

Snow must melt, go away
Come again some other day,
And never freeze on
Walks and roadways!

'Cause I'm apt to end up
On my back and sideways!

Fabulous photos! The snow looks so soft and fluffy. Sounds like the kind of snow I'd like too -- good for amazing photos ops, then it disappears. Do show us more photos!

Marley,
We're bundled up now!

Bergson,
Yes, but it's not Christmas yet!!

Jacob,
I've been nuts for a long long time. Cute poem!

Katie,
Virtual snow for you all.

Steviewren.
Good idea but I'm the pits at Photoshop!

MV,
Sorry your trip was not so good!

Petrea,
It was cold but fun and we stayed on the pavement for the most part.

I love the way you caught the flicker of the flame. It looks like a Christmas card.

Ooh, just too romantic. You could have told me it was in Vermont and I might have believed you, except I know your approximate longitude.

Oh, lucky lucky you! I'd have taken a picture of the rain we got, but it wasn't nearly as festive...:(

Wow, you got snow there before we did here! Beautiful shots!

So glad the snow came through for Birmingham! We didn't get any here, although up to an inch was predicted. We were supposed to be in the thick of it! Beautiful photos, by the way!
