CDPB THEME DAY - PHOTO OF THE YEAR

Soft Winter's Day

The directives were simple: Choose the photo you think is your best one for the year 2008. Given that I am totally unable to judge my own work, I quickly realized that I would need some help here. I asked around the blog and also some photography friends around town.  I did NOT ask my daughters. They would have voted for their own offspring and that would have caused  a family feud!  When the votes were in.......everyone voted for a different photograph and the ball was lobbed right back in my court.  Here's my final answer.  Since it's a special day, I am going to break the Daily Photo one photo rule (again!!!)  and share the runners up.

I'd like to add a huge THANK YOU to all the faithful visitors that stop by my blog  so regularly but don't leave comments here.  Many of you share your good thoughts with me by email or when you see me around town.  Your visits and support are so appreciated !!!!

Happy New Year everyone.
May the coming year find our world a more peaceful place!

"The Duet"

"Gathering Acorns"

"The Gentleman"

"Urban Waterfall"

Hi, Virginia, and Happy New Year again. Those trees could be outside my window!

Great choices but then I love and admire your photography. I couldn't have chosen either, Virginia!

Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year.

Oh Virginia - I agree - how can you pick? It's like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. They are each a favorite for some different reason. Your work is getting better all the time - I didn't think that was possible! Hope that 2009 will be an extra special year for you and your family!

Love the first choice. Best wishes for 2009!

Oh V, that is gorgeous. You have too many stunners to pick just one! (I would have probably voted for the men on the steps photo because it just blew me away the first time I saw it! Like so many of yours.)

I am so fortunate to have met you through our blog adventures. Your humor and kindess are part of what make City Daily Photo such a joy to be a part of. I hope your new year is filled with great shots and good friends, with peace and prosperity and love.

Don't ask me to choose, I can't! I take all of them, I'm one of your fans, but you already know that.
Je te souhaite une Très Bonne Année 2009, Virginia, and I'm so happy to know you "in real life".

Beautiful choice, Virginia. It was hard to pick from among the photos you chose, because all of them are works of art and beauty.

Here's to continued success in 2009 painting through pictures!

My word, Virginia, you have such a lot of wonderful photos to choose from but I think this one is especially lovely, all soft mistiness. My good wishes for a healthy, happy and preosperous 2009.

The Pelican drop was a blast. Wait 'til you see the photos I got of the "KISS" band that was playing.
Happy New Year, Virginia!

Oh rules are made to be broken, aren't they?

That one and the very last one are my favorites. The fog gives a very special atmosphere and the colors are just so pretty! It's almost like a painting.

A very Happy New Year to you Virginia!! Bonne année!! :)

Beautiful! Love that top photo. I hope you made it through new years eve without Jock. Our power went out in the middle of our new year's eve traditional fondue. internet came back online late this afternoon thanks to Mrs. DL's calls to comcast. (I was a little hot under the collar about the whole situation). A pleasure to visit on the blogisphere!

Rules were meant to be broken, and I'm glad you did because I like seeing them all. If you peek at Celine's best of set at Stayton Daily Photo, you will see that you and she could produce a lovely set with your featured soft tree shot.

I have so enjoyed your shots this year, and living your Paris journey vicariously! But most of all I've loved your warm, kind, and funny comments and frequent visits. You help to make so many of our days brighter just by being you. I even enjoy reading the comments you leave on my friends blogs! :-)

I'm hoping 2009 holds the best of everything for you, Virginia. Good health, fun adventures, and happiness with those you love.

V. So many wonderful photos to choose from indeed...& I would of added the red truck, and the detail of the Orthodox church, and the red hats, and those tiny baby feet...
It's been such a pleasure viewing your blog and reading your funny & supportive & caring comments in CDP & beyond, and seeing how to be a true friend to so many people. Wishing you the very best in the New Year.
